It’s my birthday! Well, tomorrow (January 24th) it is… That is why, today, I am going to share with you a story that started with a special birthday gift. “The Steadfast Tin Soldier” is written by Hans Christian Andersen and published in 1838.
Alternate ending
There is also an alternate ending where the tin soldier has returned home to the little boy, but his sister is trying to prank him by opening the jack-in-the-box. The boy startles and accidently drops the tin solider into the fireplace. This scared the paper dancer, causing her to lose balance and fall into the fireplace as well. The fairy godmother, who lives in the Christmas tree, sees it and whispers some magic words. Outside, a soldier and a dancer run towards each other excitedly. The only thing that gets left behind in the fire is a tin heart and a paper flower.
Always keep believing in your fairytale!
